Summary

Bridges was born at Hobart, Tasmania, and attended Scotch College. She was the sister of prolific colonial writer Roy Bridges, maintaining a close relationship with him throughout her life and assisting his writing. She also produced numerous works of her own, from stories for children, to short fiction and sketches and more than a dozen novels, including Our Neighbours (1922), Chinese Lacquer: An Australian Story and The House of Storms (1932). Generally involving themes of mystery, crime and romance, her novels range in setting from the suburbs of Melbourne to remote wildernesses of Tasmania.
