Summary
Boxall spent time in Australia in the 1870s and 1880s. He published a musical theatre libretto, some articles and short stories as well as one book, The Story of the Australian Bushrangers (1899). Reprinted eight times over the twentieth century, this work has sometimes been viewed as historical non-fiction, though at the time of publication a reviewer for the Pall Mall Gazette located it in an Australian tradition of 'fiction founded on fact' with works by Rolf Boldrewood and Marcus Clarke and Louis Becke.
