Summary
Potter came to Australia in the late 1850s after completing studies in theology and literature at Trinity College, Dublin. As canon of the Anglican Church in Melbourne, he was a well-known figure when his science-fiction adventure story, The Germ Growers, was published in 1892. Although the novel appeared under the pseudonyms of Robert Easterly and John Wilbraham - the heroes of the tale - Potter was widely recognised as the author.
